FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saturday 22 September 2007

Stow Rugby Club presented the County Air Ambulance with a cheque for £1500.00 representing funds raised both by the junior section of and at the Motor Show, held at the Oddington Road ground in July.
The presentation took place following the first Vice Presidents Lunch of the season where 70 members and guests enjoyed a superb buffet lunch served from the clubs recently extended and refurbished kitchens.
The highlight of the event was the return of Bo Maggs in her helicopter. Landing on the main pitch near to the clubhouse Bo had been instrumental in helping raise funds at the Motor Show with her helicopter golf ball drop.
Paul Weir from the local County Air Ambulance based at Strensham services on the M5 North of Tewkesbury, reminded the club that although paramedics are provided by the health service all costs relating to purchasing, piloting and operating the helicopters come from donations. The Club has had cause to use the service on more than one occasion and appreciate the vital service they provide.
Lunch over and the cheque was presented by Bo to Paul in front of her helicopter before she took to the skies for another whirlybird appointment in Suffolk.
This was not the end of the action for the day and the assembled crowd were treated to a nail biting game of rugby as the Stow First IX beat Phoenix 21 -8, a thoroughly satisfactory end to an action packed day.
