Season 2007/8

Hi All

Good win at Wheatley 43-3 completed our league programme - the dress code for the evening of tutus and tights combined with blazers and tie was very fetching - Craig Chapman coming in ahead of the field!

There have been improvements made on the pitch, individually and collectively, despite an average of 12 attending training. The nos. are not enough to push for promotion but will keep us in a comfortable league position. I would like to thank the 8 hard core trainers for their commitment - the skipper deserves a special mention for not only playing every game of the season but enjoying great personal success technically and as a leader. Pete Taylor, Huggy, Will Bevan, Bradley, Nick, Peachey - all have upped their performance levels. It was also a great help to have the benefit of some old heads in the latter part of the season - Pup and Carty showing us how it should be done! The latter enjoying the first 'puke' of his rugby career on a Saturday night at Wheatley.

Mark Dancer has done a great job with the colts - James Holmes representing the firsts against Broadmoor and going over for the decisive try. I hope to see many more of the squad featuring in the senior teams next year.It is very encouraging to see the Junior section of the club so vibrant - many thanks to Jock, Giles et al for all their time and effort. Thanks also to the regular support and promptings from Alex, Phil and Bob Johnson at away matches and to Tony for his help at training.

Ben Eddolls with Kitey alongside have done stirling work keeping tabs on all those who dont train but are available on a Saturday. There needs to be more investment from those who like six days rest between games or have a stag weekend in Exeter on a league Sat. Perhaps its the Stow way! It will have to change if we want to be serious contenders.

I will be back from holiday on the 21st July - see you all on the 22nd!

Have a great hol.
